Redbox offering $2 game rentals nationwide

This is great for those that want to try games before they actually buy them.  Netflix starting June 19th will offer game rentals for $2.00. Movies usually go for $1 and Blu-Ray movies go for $1.50.  They actually tested this marketing campaign at 5,000 of there locations.  The results were encouraging (they made money). Always best to spend $2 before dishing out $50 to buy a new game because if you don't like the game and you buy it to quickly without renting it, thats alot of cash to be out.  Read more about it here.

Amazon slashes mp3 prices to 69 Cents.

Amazon wants to make sure they have there share of the MP3 market.  They have slashed there prices down to 69 cents.  Its great to see them compete with Itunes where you can buy  mp3's for 99 cents.

Competition is great for the marketplace, its keeps prices reasonable and as well give the customers choices which makes them happy because they are buying what they want without worrying about paying high prices.  Wish gas was like that with competition.   To read more about this click here.

Facebook coming to an end just like the world in 2012

Facebook according to Zuckerberg is coming to an end March 15, 2012.  Its become so big that his life has turned very stressful so it look as if he is doing it for health reasons.  I love Facebook as it allows me to express myself and also keep up with friends and family that live far away.  All good things have to come to an end sometime I guess. :)

Here is the link to the story:   Facebook coming to an end!

The Dark Knight - A cool spoof

Busy day today at Ben's Corner but take the time to check this out.  My friends showed it to me and I wanted to share the laughter.  Time to bust a gut!  It's from the interrogation scene!

Mary's Prayer

Not sure how many people know but there was a popular christian song that came out in 1987 called  Mary's Prayer.  It was sung by a unknown artist whose name is Danny Wilson.  He was known in the UK and Scotland but not in the U.S. until this song became a Top 30 hit. Mary's Prayer became so popular that it was re-released overseas in 1988 and reach #3 out there on the Billboard Charts. These days he spends his time creating music for video games.  Here is the music video for Mary's Prayer.  Enjoy this timely classic.

God of this City

When I first became a contemporary christian back in 09 I was just starting to really learn how powerful christian music is.  Mary's Prayer is a great song (which I'll post as well) but God of this City is fantastic.  It's sung by a group called Bluetree.  Look them up sometime, there songs are inspirational.  It moves me so much that I can feel God stretching me to do even better works in my life.  Here is a picture of the group:

Here is the song God of this City, get ready to be blessed!

Apple Itunes TOS - Watch out South Park agreed to it!

I have an Iphone and whenever I go to download any apps, the Apple Itunes TOS will come up if it has been updated.  The Terms of Service is like 55 pages long.  Who the heck is going to read 55 pages of that.  I would rather watch water boil and paint dry.  Check out these 3 video of South Park making fun of the Apple Itunes TOS.  Be sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed to be sure you can view them properly. Its amazing what you can find in Ben's Corner.  I surprise myself to. :)

The change continues in me

As I sit in my corner I was thinking to myself alot has changed with me and everything around me.  The most obvious thing would be 9-11-01 but its much more then that.  I keep thinking about how I have changed over the years.  I went from being a rebellious fun-loving teenager to a very hardened person.  Having great friends around me and working at Disney was a blast.  The environment was alot of fun.  It was awesome talking to and going out with all kinds of women there.  That helped me grow as a person because I was learning what it means to work and earn money.  I worked in  foods but it was a start.

I tried going to Valencia Community College but dropped out because of the lousy teachers making classes very hard with no enjoyment whatsoever.  I did eventually graduate from FMU 11 years after I quit High School back in 1987 (I did get my G.E.D in 1989)  I quit Disney because I wanted more out of life so I enlisted into the Air Force.  That experience made me grow up as a man.  With all the Training Instructors getting into my face and singling me out, I'm very surprised I didn't get into fights.  They took all the rebelliousness out of me in those 4 years.

During those 4 years I got into computers on my own, learning alot from my best friend Mark Gear at the time.  That officially turned me into a cool geek. :)

Worked for Convergys and expanded my computer skills.  Still I wanted more because I wanted to change and learn even more about computers.  I got a job as a computer technician at Rent-A-Center.  While I learned alot about hardware there I hated the environment.  They work there people to death and also belittle them in the process because no matter how much you do they want and expect more and they are nasty about it.  That created a very hostile environment which I was a part of for 10 years. Everybody treated each other like crap and that was the norm and was expected.  That turned me into a very hard person and all the love was taken out of me.

I hurt my back towards the end of my employment there and because I couldn't get back in time, they brought on another person to take my place. They cited the Family Medical Leave Act.  They were looking for a reason to get rid of me and I gave it to them on a silver platter.  I was hurt because I gave so much of myself but the change was necessary for me to grow more as a person.  With change you never know at that moment whether its for the good or bad, only God knows that.

I went months without working, finally worked at Rasmussen for a few months doing Help Desk Support which was the same thing I did at Convergys.  I was able to expand my computer skills even more.  I was let go after the 3 month contract but I was grateful because it was a good experience so more change was to come.

Worked for Sungard as a Help Desk Analyst.  The environment was hostile there for the same reasons as Rent-A-Center.  Cool thing was I learned how to use Active Directory and troubleshoot network issues big time.  This was supposed to be a 3 month contract but they let a bunch of people go including me only after 5 weeks because business slowed down.  So much change in my life at this time with employment, parents, my brother and also met Deanna at this time and we married.  Thank goodness for her otherwise I may have gotten violent because I was miserable at Sungard.

Another change with work and I'm now with Airtran Airways soon to be a subsidary of Southwest Airlines.  I was on a 6 month contract and its been a blast.  Biggest change is working with great people in a great environment.  I've done so well that I was given another 6 month contract.  I feel its a big accomplishment because I showed myself that I can do great work and also because now I'm married plus became a contemporary christian.  With my faith in God it has allowed me to become loving again.  I can thank Deanna because she was the one that suggested a couple of years ago for us to go to church.  I decided to after watching Joel Osteen.  He is great.  I have also learned how to keep patient and not react to things so quickly because with faith also comes another change, calmness because God I know will take care of me and Deanna because his arms are around us.

The most important thing that everybody should take from this is that change is inevitable.  Try your best to keep your mind open.  You want your brain to become a sponge so you learn new things all the time.  Life can make people very hard so its important to do things that will keep you happy and loving.  Its okay to be a bit hard.  Everbody will have that in them but as long as your happy, people will see that.  Also respect people all the time no matter what they say.  You can't control what people say to you but you can control your emotions and be the better person which will allow you to grow.  They will also grow to respect you.  I've seen it happen to me since finding religion.  You'll get knocked down so be resilient.  That way you can get back up quickly and shake off the cobwebs.

I'll continue to change as a person but I'll make sure its for the better!

God Bless everybody and remember everybody changes so make sure you change for the better!

Ben's Corner where learning is always fun!

Zorin OS: Blows Windblows away!

I've been trying out Linux lately from my good friend Joel.  I've tried Ubuntu, Linux Mint and now the best one to date in my opinion: Zorin OS.

Its a very stable OS. Load times are fast, it shuts down at most 3 seconds.  That a heck of alot better then windows where boot times and shut down times can take anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute in some cases.

I also love the fact that its so stable that Viruses and Malware have practically no change on messing it up.  Windows because of the popularity of it and with Internet Explorer integrated as well.  That gives hackers more opportunties to destroy your OS and mess up important docs, etc.

You can customize all kinds of stuff as well.  The way the menus come up is animated and unlike with Windows 7 where if you run anything animated it will slow it down.  Not with Zorin OS thankfully.

Whats also cool is you can run Windows apps in Zorin OS with a program called WineHQ so if you have certain apps that you can't do without now you don't have to worry about doing without it.

If you enjoy Zorin OS, then you can purchase Zorin OS 4 Ultimate, Business, Multimedia or Gaming on DVD which gives you even more stuff and is suited to your computer needs.  The cost is somewhere between $20 to $25.  Thats way less then Winblows where you can easily spend a few hundred on an OS thats not very stable.

Check out Zorin OS for yourself courtesy of YouTube:

Here is the link to read more about  Zorin OS.

Here is the link to there Download Page.

There is way more you can do with Zorin OS as well that wasn't listed here but read up on it and enjoy!

Manic Monday - Worlds Biggest Pac-Man game.

Well the workweek is here officially but no worries.  Lots of fun to be had.  I love the 80's and I make no bones about it because thats when in my opinion video games were at there best.  Simple concepts means hours on end of great gaming.  Pac-Man ruled the 80's and now its back and BIGGER then ever and I mean it literally! Check out this video thru Youtube courtesy of GAMEON Grapevine:

Game feels just like the original  except every board is different and unique.  I love that you can also create your own boards which I will be doing and gameplay is different everytime depending on your starting board.  1000's of boards to choose from.  I love it.  I scored over 600,000 earlier and once I can find out how to record my gameplay I'll post it on here.

So don't let Muhnday get you down, hang out in Ben's Corner and know that everyday is a feel good day.  Now go eat some dots and create some boards. Take care everybody!

Easter Sunday - Jesus has risen!

All I can say is WOW. I went to one of the best services since I became a contemporary christian. Service started out with the music and then as we went into prayer, it felt like out of nowhere Deanna was nudging me to get my attention and then just like that the service changed from good to tremendously awesome.  Jesus carrying the cross down the aisle just like in The Passion of the Christ.

I felt this incredible feeling inside of me.  It was God telling me your life is going to change and your faith has become that much stronger.  I felt like my faith got a jolt these last 40 days but seeing the cross come down the aisle and THEN it got raised to the ceiling.  Seeing the cross go up in real life is an incredible experience.  For those that are strong in there faith, you need to see it, its life-changing.  It was a blessing and an honor to feel my faith go thru the roof literally!

The teaching for Easter Sunday was fantastic.  The essence of sin is not the act of doing bad things like me and other people think it is.  It's craving sin over God.  You can't stay in his graces if your always thinking of doing sin.  Sin can lead to destruction, collapse and even decay.  Relationships and marriages have been destroyed over sin.  Thats why its important that you truly care about God first and then your mate.  God helps you keep your alignment straight so sin is not strong in your life.

Material things can be replace such as money, electronics, cars, etc.  Jesus is irreplaceable.  He gives you true happiness and ultimate love.  Thats why if you believe in material things you'll never be truly happy. It gives you temporary satisfaction until the next thing comes out.  You'll always be craving.  With Jesus because he gives you true happiness so you'll be happy with yourself.

The essence of Christianity?  It comes down to you.  We need to stop becoming aware of Jesus and become intimate with him.  The more intimate we are with him, the more blessings we will feel from him.  It may not be on our time but it will be in his time and because we are humble and broken, we receive his blessings as an honor and not act like we are spoiled.

Take life one day at a time, just like when you walk you put one foot out in front of the other.  Even though things change such as gas prices, the economy, the job market, etc.  Jesus will never change so you can be sure that he will feel your love and passion for him.  Feel freely to give him your issues and he will help you stay calm to get thru them. Keep the faith!

After service Deanna and I spent the day at her mother in laws place.  Spent time talking with her and the one thing that I love about her grandpa is that he is very religious and I love seeing the crosses as I enter each room.  I would spend some time looking at each one since they all looked different.  Thats the least I can do for the man that gave up his life so we all can have eternal life.  He died for our sins and I want to try my best to live the life that I was meant to live.

We had hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta salad and baked beans with bacon.  Took lots of pictures of Alee and at the service. You can view the pics of Easter Sunday by clicking here.

Hope everybody had a great Easter Sunday plus I hope I was able to shed some light on why Easter is important.  God Bless everybody and remember that I will always help everybody that needs it and also lend an ear when neccessary.  Take care my beloved!

That special somebody

Now that Easter is just about here, I've been doing some heavy thinking about those in my family that are no longer with us.

My grandpa was very strong physically and mentally.  I admired him growing up.  He was in the army and served in war.  Problem is he became hard of hearing from all the noise and would never admit it.  He had to much pride and ego.  He always used to take me in during the times my parents wanted some time to themselves.  He lived in Brooklyn and would always allow me to walk around. I used to hang out at the food stores and play pac-man.  He loved his wife so much but she died in the 70's.  Nothing ever got to him, he had a wall of steel.  I still to this day strive to be strong like that.  He died in 93 from a heart attack but in my mind he will never be forgotten.

Another special person to me is Jesus.  He died on the cross for our sins.  Even though that was ages ago, it will never be forgotten about me.  Watching Jesus of Nazareth helped show me the kindness that he had in his heart, never got angry and always willing to make people better.  God's gift to us should not be taken lightly at all.

So im asking everybody this Easter weekend to think about somebody in your past that you miss very much that was a big influence in your life.  It can be a family member or even a friend.  Just know that even though they are not here anymore, they are in a better place, the place we all want to get to: heaven.

You'll be amazed at how much better you'll feel knowing you had a great relationship with them.  Take there good qualities and in there honor, incorporate them in your life so you become a better person.

God bless everbody and let this Easter be the most special yet.

40 Days of Passion: Confrontation of the Cross

This is the Book called 40 Days of Passion: Confrontation of the Cross that I have been reading the last 40 days.

For those interested in reading it, there is a PDF of it available at The Journey At First Baptist Orange City's  website:

Good Friday

Thank God today is Good Friday, TGIGF.  I officially today completed the 40 Day of Passion: Confrontation of the Cross.  This was a devotional book given to us by the The Journey at First Baptist Orange City.

Pastor James wanted people to have a way of becoming more intimate with God.  What better way then to start your morning with the devotionals. I learned what the true meaning of broken is.

Most people think the meaning of broken is that your emotionally spent and have no place to  turn to.  That is actually being broke.  Being broken really means that your giving up your Ego and Pride to live the life that Jesus meant for you to have.

From this point out your living is God's will not your own.  We are human beings and will make plenty of mistakes in life.  Living in his will opens up your mind so the decisions you make will be led by God not your earthy thoughts.  Better way to realize this is your living in the spirit and not doing things the earthly way.

Being spiritual also means that you care about people, don't judge them, show mercy because where mecrcy is shown mercy is given.  Just remember when you come upon somebody and they seem to be mean and nasty, they could be just that type of person because there ego and pride have been hurt many times over the years.  It could also be that there are lots of issues going on behind there closed doors.  You don't know the situation so its best to lend an ear and reassure them that tough times don't last but tough people do (mentally tough that is).

This is the first time I have been this disciplined in my walk with God.  I told my wife Deanna that we will go thru these 40 days together and we have.  I always talk to her about the scriptures that I read because sometimes I run into things in my readings that I can relate to in real life.  I share this with her because with Gods will she will also read things and realize "oh this is the way things are supposed to be".  With TV and 24 hour news coverage sometimes out thinking can become skewed.  Always do you best to keep your head in the books.  It will allow you to stay positive so when you come across people that aren't so nice, there words will bounce off of you. No need to think twice about it because it will happen quick.

I've also learned that Grace is important because that keeps your walk with God stronger by the day.  If your putting on the face but there is no substance behind it then your walk won't last long.

Lastly, now that I know that God gave up his son Jesus so we can have eternal life, it hits me hard knowing the beatings he went thru all so we don't have to go thru that.  I now look at the cross as Jesus giving up his life for us because he loved us instead of just a cool symbol to wear.

I watched Passion of the Christ and Jesus of Nazareth and I'll be talking about those over the weekend as Easter Sunday comes around.  God Bless everybody, I love you and have a great Good Friday!

Start of a new day!

I've always enjoyed sharing my thoughts and feelings with people.  I'm the type of person that has learned to breathe life into situations to make them better.  With this Blog you'll get alot of fun times but also stuff that will make you think.  I hope that people become better reading my blog.  I'm also looking forward to making friends so feel free to comment and rate.  Keep in mind that comments are moderated so all I ask is that things are kept pleasant.
